The highlight of the 12th Shanghai New Music Week is definitely the world top ensemble from German, Ensemble Modern, who will present a remarkable performance of works respectively by the three globally renowned composers, Mark Andre (1964), Rebecca Sauders (1967) and Thomas Adès (1971). Beijing Contemporary Soloists, a newly founded ensemble, will join us this year. Its founding provides a glimmer of better days for Chinese contemporary music. New Sound of Kun Opera —Peony Pavilion, combining traditional with contemporary elements, will launch a new batch of eminent professional musicians. What is highly anticipated this year may be the 1st Shanghai International Chamber Opera Composition Competition, Resident Composers’ Orchestra Concert andChinese Poetry —Voice and Orchestra Concert. They will help unveil some mystery surrounding the opera house at Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
Following new sounds and sharing modern originality are both driving forces for our lasting contributions.
