TAO Yu, composer

             Ms. Tao was born in Beijing, and now lives in France.  She is on the board of directors of IAWM (US). She has worked on composition and electro-acoustic music at China Conservatory of Music, Conservatory of Music of Geneva and French institute IRCAM.  She has been invited as composer in residence at ‘Buziol Foundation’ in Italy, ‘Ragazze Kwartet Ensemble’ in Holland, ‘Hartung and Bergman Foundation’, ‘Pcl Ensemble’ and ‘Art Zoyd Studio’ in France. She made various appearances as composer in residence at ‘Grame’ to compose her new opera ‘Ah Q’, commissioned by ‘Grame’ and ‘Ministry of Culture of France’; produced by France, Italy and China.  Furthermore, with the support of the Swiss foundation ASM and SUISSA, the concerts ‘TAO Yu and Atros’ have been performed in 12 cities in concert tours in Switzerland and China. With the support of the Ministry of Culture of France and foundation Sacem the concerts ‘TAO Yu and Grame’, ‘TAO Yu and Trio d’argent’ have been performed in concert tours in China.  Ms. Tao’s works have been performed in China, Japan, South Korea, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, Holland and the USA. She is one of the most active composers of the new Chinese generation.
